Tyler Brinson

Wilmington - Tyler Gage Brinson passed away on February 4th, 2026 at his home in Wilmington, N.C.  Tyler was born to the delight of his parents Melissa Keene Brinson and David Alan Brinson on February 11th, 2001.

Tyler grew to be strikingly handsome with expressive brown eyes like his Moms'. On May 2nd, 2013, when Tyler was just 12 years of age, his Mother passed away and Tyler's eyes held a sadness that was detectable from then on. There were other very sad chapters to follow in the course of Tyler's remaining years that presented a huge challenge for him.

Tyler was kind and compassionate with a big heart. He was also intelligent, quiet and contemplative. He had a great love for his family and was especially close to his sister, Jessica, moving to Wilmington to live closer to her and his brother-in-law, Gavin Lund. 

Tyler could not have imagined how many hurting hearts of family and friends he would leave behind, but there are many and most are seeking peace with his unexpected absence from our lives, at his young age. Tyler was baptized at St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church in Swansboro, N.C. in 2012. 

Tyler was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Linda Keene; and his mother, Melissa Keene Brinson.  Survivors include: David Alan Brinson, Jessica Brinson and Gavin Lund. 

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to all that invested time and resources into Tyler's education and well-being over the course of his 24 years. Special Appreciation extended to: David & Diana Coates, Jan Dalton, Cathy Baker, Kim Boyette, and Susan Nelson.  A private memorial will be held on February 21st, 2026.
