Nancy Blue Breese

Kure Beach - Nancy Blue Breese, 81, of Kure Beach, NC, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on December 8th, 1944 in Raleigh, NC to Nancy and Jack McKethan, and known as "Blue" by family and friends, she lived a life defined by grit, wit, and kindness.

Blue spent her years traveling the world, enjoying great food, reading funny and inspiring non-fiction, and writing down her amusing thoughts in doggerel. Despite living in many places around the world and country, Blue loved Kure Beach most of all and made it her home for the past few decades.

Those who knew Blue will remember her captivating stories of her many travels and of living in places like Chile, France, and Germany. Even more fondly, they will remember her for her disarming sense of humor and kindness. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people and was loved by many.

Blue is survived by her loving son, Stuart Miller and his wife, Kimberly Kirkpatrick; her grandson, Samuel Miller; her cousins, Jim Beck, Abigail Beck, and Chris Beck; her “Korean son,” Greg; and many dear friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial donations may be made in Blue’s honor to WHQR Public Media or the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina.
