Joanne Margaret Nemeti

Joanne Margaret Nemeti (née Gilleland) was born in Pensacola, Florida September 24, 1932, to Allen Mackey Gilleland and Margaret Gilleland (née Parsons). Joanne met her husband, Joseph "Joe" Carl Nemeti, in Miami when he was on leave from the United States Marine Corps. After a whirlwind two-week courtship, they became engaged. Joanne and Joe went on to have two daughters, Gay born in March 1956 and Lori, born in 1959. The family lived all over the country due to Joe's service. When Joe retired after twenty-nine years of active service in the Marines the family relocated to Miami where Joe found a new career path as a park ranger for Miami-Dade County. When he finally retired for good, Joe and Joanne settled in North Carolina where Joe had several relatives. Joe and Joanne were parishioners at St. Stanislaus for many years. Joanne was fortunate enough to establish a deep friendship with her neighbor, Sherry Quinn, and foster relationships with her family members, Dale, Michael and Rebecca.

Joanne's family would like to specifically thank Sherry for her kindness, friendship, and dedication displayed to Joanne. Sherry has truly felt like a member of the family and was integral in Joanne's care and provided companionship that, no doubt, extended her life.

Joanne is predeceased by her mother, Margaret, father Allen, husband Joseph, and daughter Gay. She is survived by her daughter Lori Kasprack, Lori's husband Jeff Kasprack, son-in-law John Robson, granddaughters Jane Robson and Alexis Kasprack, loving brother-in-law Teddy Karwoski, her beloved cat “Angel” Special Friends, Sherry, Chris.

Thank you to her caregivers Rissa, Ashlii, Susan, Jen who worked tirelessly to make her journey easier.
