Leland - Edith Louisa Plank, born on August 25, 1945, in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 80.
Edith dedicated her life to serving others, both through her professional work and her personal passions. She spent many years as a devoted worker at the IV Med Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was known for her compassionate care and unwavering dedication to her patients.
Beyond her professional life, Edith was deeply committed to her faith and community. She was very active in her church and found great joy in supporting Maranatha Volunteers International and Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis. Her generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Edith was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Angel Suarez and Evelia Suarez Yero. She is survived by her loving sister, Idalmi Walker; her cherished daughter, Michelle Menendez; her devoted son, Kenneth Plank; and her treasured grandchildren, Maria, Kenneth (Aaron), and Cassandra. Edith also leaves behind five beloved great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her.
A service to honor and celebrate Edith's remarkable life will be held on Sunday, February 22nd, at 2:00 pm at the Wilmington Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 2833 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28403.
Edith Louisa Plank will be remembered for her selfless spirit, her unwavering faith, and her boundless love for her family and community. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
