LAWNDALE: In loving memory of Donovan Patrick Hardin, affectionately known as "Don Don," who was born on August 12, 2004, in St. Petersburg, FL, and departed this world far too soon on September 26, 2025, at the tender age of 21 in Cleveland County, NC.

Donovan's life, although brief, left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a beacon of light, a source of courage and strength, whose presence lifted spirits and brought people together. With an infectious love for life and a heart full of compassion, he was the glue that held his family and friends close.

A true lover of animals, Donovan was often called "Dr. Dolittle" for his natural ability to connect with creatures of all kinds. His passion for life extended to his studies, where he pursued a future in Cybersecurity, and found camaraderie and discipline in the ROTC program. As his grandfather's "little buddy," he brought endless joy and laughter to his family.

Donovan's zest for life was evident in his love for video games, where he not only excelled but also forged lasting friendships in the online gaming community. He was an amazing big brother, a role he cherished and embodied with pride and dedication.

Preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents, Thomas and Kathleen Aikin, and paternal grandparents, Benton and Barbara Hardin, Donovan leaves behind a family who adored him. Surviving him are his devoted parents, James and Patricia Hardin; his loving brothers, James Aikin and Thomas Hardin; his caring aunt, Susie Swann (Sam); uncles, Daniel Hardin, James Aikin (Cathy), and Daniel Furr (Mary); and many cherished cousins. He is also survived by numerous great friends including Bryson Allen (Beth) and their son, Troy, Timothy Thomas (Belle Johnson), Dashawn Jones, Jason Braswell, Zack Huntley, and many others who felt the warmth of his spirit.

As we mourn the loss of Donovan, we celebrate the incredible impact he made in his short time with us. He taught us to live with courage, to love deeply, and to embrace each moment with joy. Though he has left this earthly realm, his light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with a memorial service to honor Donovan's life to follow at 4:00 PM. We invite all who knew and loved Donovan to join us in celebrating the beautiful life of a remarkable young man who touched us all.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory serve as an inspiration to us all.

Aquamation services are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funerals, Cremations, and Aquamation Center, 1401 West Dixon Blvd Shelby, NC 28152.
