Listen to Obituary

Myrtle Beach, SC - Carlos M. Felix, age 59, passed away peacefully just after midnight on March 3, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, after a battle with prostate cancer. He remained hopeful, strong, and courageous throughout every stage of his fight.

He was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 19, 1966, and was the son of the late Isaura Martins Pires and Manuel Felix Pires. Carlos is survived by his twin children, Christopher Felix and Gabrielle Felix of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as well as his brothers, Miguel Pires and Gilbert Pires of Brooklyn, New York.

Carlos was a proud father who loved creating new memories with his children. Although he moved to the United States with his family at around age four, he spent most summers in Arripiado, Portugal, with his parents and two brothers. Aside from those summers, he spent most of his life in New York before eventually moving to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 2006 with his family. Carlos loved to travel, and two of his favorite places—what he called “his happy places”—were Portugal and Walt Disney World. He, along with his family and friends, celebrated many milestones, birthdays, and vacations there. During his trips to Portugal, he spent much of his time connecting with family in Arripiado, along with visits to Lisbon, Cascais, Nazaré, and many other places. Carlos especially enjoyed sharing these experiences, as well as many other adventures, with his partner, Elie Erickson of Wilmington, North Carolina.

During his professional career, he studied architecture at NYIT in Westbury, New York, before becoming a master carpenter and eventually a project manager. “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” — Winnie the Pooh

A memorial service will be held oceanside in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on May 2, 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
