Alicia Carey Larsen

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alicia Carey “Lisa” Watson Larsen, who left this world on August 8th, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her children.

Alicia was born on April 27th, 1969, in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she was also raised. Known to many as Lisa, she carried the heart of Wilmington with her throughout her life, cherishing her hometown roots and the community she loved.

She was the beloved mother of her daughter, Ashley Manypenny, and son, Aaron Larsen, and the cherished mother-in-law of Brandon Manypenny. She shared her children with their father, Michael Larsen.

Lisa is survived by her sisters, Sonya Watson and Gail Watkins (husband Wayne Watkins Jr.), along with several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alan Watson, and by her parents, Archie Watson and Helen Watson.

Lisa will be remembered for her kindness, gentle strength, and the way she made everyone feel at home in her presence. She had a gift for brightening the lives of those around her, whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, or her unwavering support. She loved going to the beach and enjoying an ice cream cone, sitting outside to watch the birds, buying a lottery ticket in hopes of a lucky day, and treating herself to cherry ICEEs. These simple joys were a reflection of her ability to find happiness in life’s little moments, and to share that joy with others.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, from 1–3 p.m. at Olivet Baptist Church, 138 Glendale Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of her children to plant a tree in Lisa’s honor—a living reminder of her love and the beauty she brought into the world.

She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
