KURE BEACH- Kure Beach, NC: Mrs. Charlotte Anita (Stringer) Philemon, age 77, formerly of Charlotte, NC passed away in the comfort of her home on March 1, 2022, in Kure Beach, NC. Funeral Services will be held graveside at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208 on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Rev. John I. Norman, Jr. will officiate. Charlotte was born on December 17, 1944, in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Claude and Myrtle (Privette) Stringer. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School on a Thursday in 1963 and married her sweetheart, Bruce Philemon, the following Saturday. For nearly 59 years, they have enjoyed life together. Charlotte worked in clerical accounting positions for Owens Illinois, Toledo Scale, and International Paper Company. While her children were growing up, she was a homemaker for many years. Then, she and her husband moved to Roseville, CA, where she worked as a licensed manicurist. Following her husband’s early retirement from Western Electric/AT&T, Charlotte and Bruce spent several years exploring the United States by motorhome. In 1994, they settled back in North Carolina at Kure Beach, where she ran an antique consignment business and was involved in the local community. Charlotte and Bruce continued to enjoy wonderful vacations throughout the world with family and friends. Charlotte was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Stringer and Claude Lisbon “CL” Stringer, Jr. and her sister, Patsy Stringer. Surviving include her husband Bruce Philemon; son Bruce Philemon, Jr. and husband Bobby Gunnells of Tega Cay, SC; daughter Michele (Philemon) Norman and husband John Norman, Jr. of Four Oaks, NC; grandchildren Meilyn and Laley Norman; beloved grandpup Otis; brother Leroy Stringer of Charlotte; wonderful in-laws; and many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering, not required but are kindly encouraged.
